This Privacy Policy explains how Viral Patterns LLC ("Viral Patterns," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use the Viral Patterns mobile application, website, support channels, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Viral Patterns is an AI-assisted language learning app that provides speaking practice, live tutor/avatar conversations, speech feedback, vocabulary tracking, progress analytics, reminders, and subscription features. Because these features involve account data, audio processing, transcripts, analytics, and purchases, this policy describes the information that may be processed by us and by service providers that help operate the app.

Information We Collect

Account and profile information

We may collect information used to create, authenticate, and manage your account, including:

  • Firebase user ID or other account identifiers.
  • Email address, display name, profile image URL, or similar profile information if provided through Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or your account settings.
  • Anonymous guest account identifiers if you use the app without linking Apple or Google.
  • Account creation date, last active date, subscription tier, and subscription status.

Onboarding and learning profile information

To personalize lessons and track progress, we may collect learning-related information you provide in the app, including:

  • Name or nickname.
  • Age range, gender, and other optional personalization answers.
  • Native/base language, target language, selected language level, and proficiency estimates.
  • Learning goals, selected skills, preferred pace, speaking confidence, and practice duration.
  • Tutor preferences, speaking speed, correction preferences, accent preferences, and avatar preferences.
  • Hobbies, interests, role-play situations, feedback preferences, and learning style.
  • Reminder preferences, practice time preferences, and notification settings.
  • Answers to self-assessment or language test questions.

Speaking practice, transcripts, and lesson data

When you use speaking, live session, avatar, or feedback features, we may process:

  • Microphone audio that you choose to provide during live language practice.
  • Speech-to-text transcripts and partial transcripts.
  • Tutor responses, lesson turns, translations, and conversation context.
  • Pronunciation feedback, grammar feedback, vocabulary items, corrections, scores, and progress metrics.
  • Session history such as tutor selected, scene selected, topics discussed, session duration, turn count, word count, and learning milestones.

Microphone audio may be transmitted to service providers for real-time speech processing, AI response generation, pronunciation analysis, transcription, and delivery of live audio/video experiences. We store learning outputs such as transcripts, vocabulary, corrections, and progress history so the app can show your progress and personalize future lessons.

Purchases and subscription information

If you buy a subscription or other in-app purchase, Apple processes your payment. We and our subscription service providers may receive purchase and subscription information such as:

  • Product purchased.
  • Subscription status.
  • Trial status.
  • Renewal, cancellation, refund, and entitlement status.
  • App Store transaction or customer identifiers.

We do not receive your full payment card number from Apple.

Usage, analytics, and product interaction information

We may collect usage and analytics data to understand how the app is used, improve features, personalize learning, debug problems, and measure subscription flows. This may include:

  • App screens viewed and features used.
  • Onboarding start/completion events.
  • Language selection, tutor selection, scene selection, session start/end, settings changes, vocabulary learned, streaks, goals, subscription views, and purchase events.
  • App version, build number, operating system, device type, locale, time zone, and platform.
  • Feature flag information and experiment assignment.
  • Session replay or screen interaction analytics where enabled by our analytics provider. Sensitive text, images, web views, and similar content may be masked depending on platform support and configuration.

Diagnostics, crash, and performance information

We may collect technical information to monitor reliability and fix bugs, including:

  • Crash reports.
  • Error logs.
  • Performance metrics.
  • Network and request metadata.
  • Device, operating system, app version, and diagnostic identifiers.
  • IP address and related context when collected by diagnostic providers.

Notifications information

If you allow notifications, we may collect and store a Firebase Cloud Messaging token or Apple push notification token so we can send:

  • Daily practice reminders.
  • Streak reminders.
  • Vocabulary or mastery milestones.
  • Progress updates.
  • Account, subscription, or service messages.

You can disable notifications in the app settings or iOS Settings.

Device permissions

The app may request device permissions when needed for features:

  • Microphone: Used for live speaking practice, avatar conversations, speech processing, pronunciation feedback, transcription, and AI tutor interaction.
  • Speech recognition: Used to understand spoken language practice and convert speech into text for lessons, feedback, and progress tracking.
  • Camera: The current iOS configuration declares camera access for interactive video/avatar lesson functionality. Camera access should only be requested if a feature needs it and you grant permission.
  • Notifications: Used for reminders, learning milestones, streak updates, and important app messages.
  • Tracking permission: The app may request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission during onboarding. If you allow tracking, we may use permitted identifiers and app activity data to personalize your learning experience, measure product performance, understand subscription flows, improve app features, and support analytics or measurement with our service providers.

You can change permissions at any time in iOS Settings.

How We Use Information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the app.
  • Authenticate users and support anonymous, Apple, and Google sign-in.
  • Create and maintain user profiles and learning progress.
  • Deliver live speaking sessions, avatar conversations, transcripts, translations, pronunciation feedback, grammar feedback, and vocabulary tracking.
  • Personalize lesson plans, tutor behavior, pacing, reminders, and recommendations.
  • Process subscriptions, restore purchases, and manage entitlements.
  • Send notifications you allow.
  • Provide customer support and respond to requests.
  • Analyze app usage, feature performance, conversion funnels, and product quality.
  • Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical problems.
  • Debug crashes, improve reliability, and monitor backend performance.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

AI and Speech Processing

Viral Patterns uses AI and speech services to power live tutoring, transcription, pronunciation feedback, grammar analysis, lesson generation, and audio responses. When you use these features, your speech, transcripts, prompts, lesson context, and related metadata may be processed by third-party providers that help generate or analyze responses.

AI-generated feedback may be inaccurate or incomplete. You should not include highly sensitive personal information, confidential information, financial information, medical information, passwords, or information about other people in lesson conversations.

How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We may share information in the following situations:

Service providers

We share information with vendors that help us operate the app, including providers for:

  • Authentication and account management.
  • Cloud hosting, databases, storage, and backend infrastructure.
  • Analytics, feature flags, and session replay.
  • Crash reporting, diagnostics, and performance monitoring.
  • Push notifications.
  • Subscriptions, paywalls, and purchase entitlement management.
  • Live audio/video communication.
  • Speech recognition, transcription, AI responses, and text-to-speech.
  • Customer support and operational communications.

Based on the current project, these providers may include Apple, Google/Firebase/Google Cloud, Google Sign-In, Google Gemini, Google Speech services, Mixpanel, Sentry, RevenueCat, Superwall, LiveKit, ElevenLabs, and related infrastructure providers.

Legal, safety, and compliance

We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, respond to legal process, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our terms, or protect the security and integrity of the Service.

Business transfers

If Viral Patterns is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy or a policy with similar protections.

Analytics and Product Measurement

We use analytics, diagnostics, and product measurement tools to understand app usage, improve learning flows, monitor reliability, debug problems, evaluate subscription experiences, and personalize the Service. These tools may process app interaction data, device/app information, diagnostic data, feature usage, identifiers, and purchase-related events.

Tracking and App Tracking Transparency

On iOS, the app may ask for permission to track through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you allow tracking, we may use data such as user identifiers, device or advertising identifiers where available, product interaction data, subscription or purchase events, and app usage events for personalization, analytics, product measurement, subscription flow measurement, and feature improvement.

If you ask the app not to track, we will respect that choice. Core app functionality can still be used, but some personalization, analytics, measurement, or product improvement features may be limited. We may still collect and process data that Apple allows without tracking permission, such as information needed to operate the app, provide subscriptions, prevent fraud, remember your progress, send permitted diagnostics, and perform first-party analytics.

You can change your tracking choice in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Your Choices

You can control certain information and permissions:

  • Account: You may contact us to request account deletion or assistance with account data.
  • Microphone, camera, speech recognition, notifications, and tracking: You can manage these permissions in iOS Settings.
  • Push notifications: You can disable notifications in iOS Settings.
  • Subscriptions: You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
  • Analytics and privacy requests: Contact us at contact@viralpatterns.app.

Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account and progress, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and enforce agreements.

Learning progress, transcripts, vocabulary, corrections, and account settings may be retained while your account is active so the app can personalize future lessons. Crash logs, analytics, diagnostic data, and security logs may be retained for shorter operational periods unless needed for legal, security, or support purposes. Backup copies may remain for a limited time after deletion as part of normal backup and disaster recovery processes.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at contact@viralpatterns.app and we will take appropriate steps.

International Data Transfers

Viral Patterns LLC is based in the United States. Your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from those in your location.

Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection regarding certain personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
